The energy revolution is ramping up all around the world and particularly the UK. New innovative energy resource models are coming to light such as; the increase adoption in renewable generation, smart grid technology and energy storage. One of these is a virtual power plant. A virtual power plant acts as a single energy source using cloud-based control technologies, but is a network of independent distribute energy systems operating to diversify energy generation. 

This is where TROES’ battery energy storage system (BESS) comes into play. It’s technologies and solutions help with offsetting peak energy demand and relieve grid load. TROES designed three 542 kWh/250kW BESS’s for the energy storage component of a Canadian Community Micro–Grid project. The goal of the project is to be operated as a Virtual Power Plant for a community in Eastern Canada.

TROES was able to meet the needs due to the modular and scalable design afforded by the architecture of its proprietary battery packs and cloud-based battery management system (BMS).

The BESS will provide TROES and it’s partner with UL 1973 certified, environmentally friendly, and transportable 542kWh/250kW units. They will also have thermal runaway protection, fire suppression system, and HVAC to suit specific customer space and usage needs.
