TROES Corp Awarded Funding for the “Advanced 5G Based Power Management System Development” Project

A city with 5G speeds

TROES Corp., a Canadian, Advanced Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) tech company specializing in Smart Distributed Energy Storage solutions, was awarded funding of up to $50,000 through 5G (ENCQOR) Demonstration Program, administered by Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) and Innovation ENCQOR on behalf of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada.

Mayor Frank Scarpitti Responds

Encouraging the innovation occurring in Markham and at TROES, Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti said “on behalf of the City of Markham, I would like to congratulate TROES on being awarded funding to support their Advanced 5G Based Power Management System project. As a fast scaling tech start-up supported by the City of Markham’s accelerator ventureLAB, TROES is an important member of our local innovation ecosystem and is meeting the growing global demand for sustainable energy solutions. We are proud of TROES’ contribution to Markham’s robust innovation ecosystem, and TROES is also among Markham’s 1500 ICT companies that power Canada’s 2nd largest tech cluster.”

The 5G ENCQOR Demonstration Program provides TROES a 5G testbed to advance application of 5G network environment and wireless communication technology employing a 5G based router in its BESS. A Battery Management System (BMS) inside the BESS collects data via sensors; now with the wireless platform, the BMS can send out processed data to cloud-based management system through Modbus TCP protocol and wireless router, with ultra-low latencies, thus ensuring reliable mission-critical data exchange.

Furthermore, the increased connectivity and network speeds give real-time control on energy storage systems, without the need for a local controller on site, that should result in a decrease of system cost by about 10%. Thus, BESS application will become more financially attractive as a part of energy management strategies in the commercial and industrial segments.

TROES Corp., established in 2018, develops, designs, manufactures and delivers high-performance, rigorously-tested, innovative, cloud-based battery energy storage systems, based on Lithium-Iron-Phosphate (LiFePO4) technology. The overall system integrates TROES’ proprietary Battery Modules, Battery Management Systems (BMS), Enclosures and Power Conversion System (PCS) for applications that primarily cater to the Commercial, Industrial and Institutional market segments.
