Smart Grid Atlantic is a four-year federally funded program to determine how energy technologies of the future can provide customer, community, and provincial benefits. New Brunswick Government of Canada Pension Centre based in Shediac is involved in this program. Pension Centre has a community solar farm plan to provide 70% of power for buildings/sites which are part of the smart grid Atlantic program. TROES BESS together with solar panels is functioned to shave the peak for this building.

Problem

High energy use from 2 buildings surpass peaks resulting in outrageous electricity bills.

Solution

With its peak shaving ability, TROES provided multiple BESS to support daily peak demands and provide reliable power boots at maximum 250KW for the community library and the local hockey rink. The BESS functions as a virtual power supplier to transfer power between different communities.
