TROES Commissioned Multiple Battery Energy Storage Systems in Atlantic Canada
MARKHAM, ON, CANADA – December 9, 2021 – Canadian Battery Energy Storage Systems company TROES would like to proudly announce the recent commissioning of multiple battery energy storage systems in the Atlantic provinces of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
The system of choice commissioned in Nova Scotia was a 500kW/1.1MWh capacity system enclosed within a container cabinet. The client chose TROES as the BESS manufacturer thanks to our Lithium Phosphate chemistry that provides a safer and more efficient operation while offering the ability to switch the system from grid connection to an islanded system using an integrated microgrid controller.
The solution will act as a virtual power plant to provide additional demand capacity to different communities during different times of the day. The project comes at a time when the Nova Scotia government announced their plan to move toward a new renewable energy standard, with 80 per cent of Nova Scotia’s energy coming from renewable sources by 2030.
In the neighbouring maritime province of New Brunswick, TROES is collaborating with local partner Al’s Electric Services Ltd to support Smart Grid Atlantic program initiated by NB power, NS power, NRCan and Siemens.
The project is a part of the Shediac Smart Energy Community Project; specifically, the component where two commercial buildings will be converted to net-zero. With the help of our partners, TROES provided two BESS’s for the Government of Canada Pension Centre and the Town of Shediac’s Multipurpose Centre.
The primary purpose is to lower the buildings’ energy use through “peak shaving”. The sizes of the two systems are 30kW/124kWh and 100kW/528kWh. These systems are taking advantage of renewable energy generated in the town by a new solar farm. TROES was chosen for these two projects due to our highly modular design and guarantee of delivery during the unpredictable circumstances of the pandemic.
