TROES Showcases Customer Success with Agricultural Microgrid at NB Tech Inc.
Markham, Ontario – July 29, 2026
TROES Corp. is pleased to highlight the successful deployment of an agricultural microgrid for NB Tech Inc. in Mapleton, Ontario. The project demonstrates how intelligent battery energy storage and microgrid controls can help agricultural operations improve energy resilience, reduce operating costs, and maximize the use of on-site renewable energy.
The project integrates a 250 kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with the farm’s existing 50 kW solar photovoltaic (PV) system and backup generator through TROES’ intelligent microgrid control platform. Designed to optimize the coordination of distributed energy resources, the system helps reduce generator fuel consumption, improve energy reliability, and lower long-term operating costs while ensuring uninterrupted operation of critical farm equipment.
Since commissioning, the microgrid has provided reliable day-to-day performance across seasonal operating conditions. During the summer months, the farm operates under normal conditions using energy supplied by the solar PV system and battery storage, eliminating grid electricity costs. During the winter, the microgrid continues to intelligently coordinate solar generation, battery storage, and backup generation to maintain a dependable power supply.
The customer shared positive feedback regarding the system’s operational performance:
“Everything works 100%. We have three or four rollers running steadily and never have a problem.”
The customer also highlighted the operational savings achieved during the summer months:
In the summer, we don’t get hydro bills. The solar panels and battery supply the energy, so there’s no expense after that.
The NB Tech Inc. project demonstrates the value of integrating battery energy storage, renewable energy, and intelligent controls to enhance operational reliability, optimize energy use, and reduce long-term operating costs. As the adoption of distributed energy resources continues to accelerate, scalable microgrid solutions will play an increasingly important role in supporting resilient and sustainable operations across the agricultural sector and beyond.
